Dish It: Shrimp Scampi

Dish It: Shrimp Scampi

With no parents around, it is hard to find a good meal. Going out to nice restaurants starts to add up and buying all the ingredients to make a gourmet meal takes way too much time. What we need is a meal that doesn’t take over 15 minutes to make and can be made under $8.

What if this meal could impress the ladies, or guys, and even leave you some leftovers for lunch the next day?  Here is what I did for a special dinner for my girlfriend. I was tired of taking her out to the same old restaurants, so I decided to rummage through my cabinet and rustle up something that I had never made before.

Here is exactly what I did. Time to make some Shrimp Scampi: College Style!

Here is what you are going to need:

1 pack of Ramen noodles

1 package of shrimp (shelled and deveined) – Can substitute for chicken if you like that better.

Garlic Powder

½ Stick of Butter

Salt

Pepper

First step: Bring a pot of water (big enough to hold the Ramen noodles) to a boil. For a little extra seasoning, you can add a little salt before you add the noodles.

Next: Put the Ramen Noodles, just the noodles, into the water and cook for 6-8 minutes. Strain the noodles after they are done.

Then: Melt the butter in another pan (large enough to hold the shrimp). Add the shrimp to the melted butter.

Next: Cook the shrimp for 4-6 minutes until they become a pinkish white color. Turn the heat off and add a little salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Finally: Add the contents of the shrimp pan to the noodles and dig in!

This may sound too good to be true, but once you take a bite, you will change your mind. Who needs to order take-out when you can make a gourmet meal right in your very own kitchen! My girlfriend loved it and I can almost guarantee your significant other will love it too.
