Spreading Holiday Cheer On a Budget

Spreading Holiday Cheer On a Budget

With the holiday season in full swing and the chilly weather upon us, it’s time to spread some cheer! As college students, we don’t have a whole lot of wiggle room in our budget for cheer spreading, so it’s vital we be as merry as possible for as little as possible.  Well don’t fear, fellow college students, I have you covered! This hot chocolate cheer pack is the ultimate holiday gift that every student can enjoy and it won’t cost you a fortune to make! It’s also a great study break and a warm treat!

All you need is:

1 Pack of Pizza Storage bags
2 Nestle Hot Chocolate Tins
2 bags Jet-Puffed Mini Marshmallows

This will cost you about $14.17 and will make 25 gifts (that’s just $0.56 per gift!)!

To Assemble:

Step 1: Pour the serving size listed on your hot chocolate container into one of the disposable bags.
Step 2: Put as many marshmallows as you want to fill the bag on top of the hot chocolate powder.
Step 3: Close the bag with ribbon and decorate how you please! We suggest snowflakes to celebrate the season! Then you’re done and ready to give some cheer!

Pizza storage bags? I’ve never even heard of those. Where can you get them?

Generally, I’m not much into the DIY Christmas gifts, but I really like this idea.

You can find them at The Christmas Tree Shop…Do you have one of those stores near you?

Yeah same here. I’ve never heard of pizza storage bags. Perhaps even gallon ziploc freezer bags, cut the zipper part off the top and then tie it like you would the pizza storage bag. I use that same technique (shape I guess) when I write on a cake…I use the bag for icing and just snip off the end – works fine for basic writing :)

A ziploc is a great idea! I’m sure you could also use empty mason jars for a more antique look, too!

Sara: You can find the pizza storage bags at the Christmas Tree Store or you can use cake decorating bags because they’re shaped the same and those can be found at Walmart or any store like that. Hope this helps! :)

Wow thats a really cheap person right there. Just buy a gift. Why put old chocolate powder and stale marshmallows into a bag and give them to your friends? That’s an insult. Might as well put melted cheese in a used gym sock and be like “here ya go”

I think on a student’s budget, this is a great idea. Anyway, the holidays should really be about the thought, not the price, right? :)

I think this is a cute idea for the little ones on your list but I dont see adults enjoying this very much they can just buy there own hot coco. I also think that as a college student this gift is just a little to cheap but for a say high school child this would be perfect for any one on there list. Maybe the college student should chump up at least $2 for the gift and get a mug from the 99 cent store too.

Maybe bagging the hot chocolate and marshmallows and putting it in a mug from the dollar store? That’s a pretty good idea, too! I think it depends how many gifts you need…if you need 25 gifts, spending $12 is better than $40. But that’s still a good deal for 25 gifts, I guess!
