This past Friday, Nik Wallenda accomplished a feat that no one has attempted before. The daredevil walked across a 1,800 foot wire spanning Niagara Falls from New York to Canada. The stunt was remarkable; an estimated 120,000 people came to witness the achievement in person while it was televised on ABC and viewed by millions of people nationwide at home. Nik also had a balance pole weighing 40 pounds helping him to accomplish the task along with a safety harness, which he didn’t use. It was a thrill to watch as cameras followed his every move suspended about 180 feet over the biggest waterfall in North America.
The 33 year old approached each step with extreme caution, perfecting his movements as he managed to walk through 40 mile per hour winds and withstand the power of the mist from the falls. When Nik saw the finish line, he miraculously sprinted across the wire to safety and greeted his family on the Canadian border with a sense of pride and calm.
Did you catch this daring feat? What did you think?
