“Is this fake?”
That’s the thought that crossed my mind when I heard this news. Despite sounding an awful lot (re: exactly) like the general premise of Jurassic Park, it turns out this story came from Clive’s camp. Clive Palmer is a business man from Queensland, Australia, known for his investments in natural resource companies. He is also the owner of Mineralogy and was estimated to be worth about 8 billion dollars by Forbes Magazine in March of 2012.
His idea is to clone a dinosaur from DNA (mosquito suspended in amber, anyone?). He has contacted scientists from the “Dolly” experiment in which scientists cloned a sheep in 1996. Palmer is very serious about his new plan; he constructed designs for his resort, and is hoping for the complex to be located in the Middle East. Do you think there is a remote chance of this phenomena coming to life?
I’ve seen Jurassic Park a dozen times. I hope this doesn’t turn out to be an example of life imitating art.
What do you think: Do you think Palmer should just let these prehistoric creatures rest in peace? Or do you feel that it would be a great leap for the scientific community? Post a comment!
