Every student has had the discussion about how they plan to pay for college. What if I told you that you could potentially go to college for free? Yes, free!
According to Daily Finance, there are ways of getting your college paid for. I’ve decided to include a few that popped out to me:
• Become a teacher in a low-income area. When you teach in that area for five years, large portions of your loans will be forgiven. The Stafford loans could forgive up to $17,500 and the Perkins Loan could forgive the entire loan
• Join the Peace Corps. They’ll forgive up to 70% of a Perkins loan. Their policy is a bit different for Stafford Loans so check out the article for more information.
• Become a veterinarian in a rural area. You may receive $75,000 in loan forgiveness. According to Daily Finance’s article, you “probably have to get used to living in the boonies”.
• In certain states there are programs where state employees who have studied law can have their loans paid off.
Check out the Daily Finance article to find out more about options for getting your loans forgiven. Obviously these are just a few ways to help during this financially stressful time in your life.
