Ozzie Guillen is known throughout the media for his profanity-filled rants and his recent argument against the Nationals this past Sunday was just like any other. The dispute Ozzie made during the fourth inning involved a young Nationals player, Bryce Harper. Ozzie complained about Harper’s apparent use of pine tar on his bat. He believed he used too much of it, giving Harper an unfair competitive advantage. The umpire, however, thought otherwise.
Bryce, 19, is having a breakout season with the Nationals, leading his club to an impressive 52- 36 record at the top of the National League. After the game, one of Bryce’s teammates asked Bryce to sign a bat for him, which he gladly did. Then, one of the players on the team added on to the bat, “to my hero, Ozzie, love you,” and spread pine tar all across it The bat was later sent to Ozzie as a practical joke – both parties laughed about it afterwards.
When Ozzie received his gift he told the press, “somebody got mad at somebody else. The problem got resolved. Now everybody loves each other again. It’s like an episode of “Full House.”
