The Huffington Post, as well as many other news sites, has released an announcement made yesterday by Jack Osbourne. Jack, the son of the famed Ozzy and Sharon and former reality TV star, has been given a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Despite the overwhelming news, Osbourne has remained positive and recently posted a tweet to show his thanks for all of the inspirational words he has received:
Multiple Sclerosis, or simply MS, is an auto-immune disease that affects the spinal cord and brain, resulting in the loss of muscle control, vision, and balance. Osbourne’s diagnosis came after he lost 60% of his vision in his right eye. The highest percentage of people get diagnosed with MS during ages 18 and 50, with women being two to three times more likely to be diagnosed then men are.
MS can be treated with certain medications. These will not make the disease go away but help the person live a normal life. Thankfully, Osbourne was diagnosed early on so the medication can potentially mean a better outlook on life.
