Five Foods That Keep You “Young”

Citrus fruits...delicious AND healthy.

As college students, “looking young” is not exactly a pressing issue for most of us. However, keeping our skin and bodies healthy and resilient is something that will pay off in the long run. The best part is that it’s easier than you might think. Simply choosing healthier foods can keep us looking young and feeling our best. We’ve got the scoop on five foods that will help do just that.

Sweet Potatoes: These help balance your skin’s pH levels, which results in less-greasy, smoother skin. Plus – sweet potato fries are delicious!

These Burpee tomatoes look delicious...and are good for your skin!

Tomatoes:  The pigment in tomatoes is actually a strong antioxidant that helps prevent skin from sun damage (kind of like sunscreen, but from the inside out).

Green Leafy Vegetables: Spinach, lettuce, etc. all contain lutein, which helps with sun-induced inflammation and wrinkles (Bonus points – lutein is also good for eye health!).

Salmon: Eating one serving every five days can prevent actinic keratosis, precancerous rough patches that develop after years of exposure to the sun.

Citrus Fruits: Fruits like lemons and limes contain bioflavonoids, which protect the skin from UV rays and help prevent cell death.

Healthy skin starts from the inside out! How will you incorporate these skin protectors into your diet?
