14-year-old Rebecca Black went spiraling into the limelight this year when her video “Friday” became an internet sensation. Attracting nearly 200 million views, Black’s first single edged out Justin Bieber’s “Baby” as the most-watched YouTube video. The California native went on to guest-star in Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night” video and has been interviewed on talk shows including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Good Morning America.”
In an attempt to prove she’s not “just a one hit wonder,” Black will release her new single “My Moment” on July 18th. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the video captures moments of Black’s whirlwind rise to stardom. It will first premiere on her YouTube channel, and will be available for purchase starting the 19th.
Given the success of her first track, which I regrettably had stuck in my head for weeks, I must admit I am interested to hear what the second single will sound like. Will a team of professional song-writers and music video producers ditch the auto-tune? I will be waiting with bated breath all week to find out.
