Our fourth Featured Student from the Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s 12th Annual Leadership Institute and Recruitment Fair comes to us from Norfolk State University. Joshua Haynes is a double-edged sword who is passionate about both science AND music.
Joshua is a Biology Pre-Professional major and DNIMAS Scholar who also works as a research assistant, focusing his energy on nanoparticles and their biocompatibilities. After graduating, he plans to attend medical school and study neurology in hopes of one day finding a cure for Sickle Cell Disease. He says the best advice he has for other students is never be too timid to speak with a professor, whether in class or in office hours. Joshua tells us that, “you should make sure each professor sees you enough to know your name.”
Despite his academic focus on the sciences, Joshua assures us he is a musician at heart. He divulges that he plays multiple instruments and that sharing his musical talents are what really give him a sense of joy.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more of our Featured Students this week!
