At times, it can be difficult to greet Monday morning with a smile. You’re not alone when it comes to the “Monday Blues” and you’re certainly not alone when it comes to needing an extra boost from time to time. To help put a little extra pep in your step, we’ve pulled together our top ten tips for staying motivated throughout the week – from early Monday morning through late night on Friday!
1. Create the perfect morning playlist.
Waking up early in the morning for school or work isn’t always easy, especially on Mondays. Get energized with a playlist of your favorite songs. What better way to get pumped up than by dancing around to your favorite music? Apps like Spotify and Pandora are also great for finding new music.
2. Write down your goals.
Sometimes we have so many thoughts and ideas running around in our head that we start to stress ourselves out and lose motivation. A great way to combat this is by writing down your goals for the week to keep your mind clear and focused on what you would like to get done. It’s also helpful to have a separate list of long term goals so that, in the back of your mind, you know where you are headed and you have something to look forward to!
3. Read books that inspire you.
Reading is so good for us because it keeps our minds and vocabulary sharp without us even realizing it. Now, add in inspirational books and you’re on fire! What books should you read for inspiration? It really depends on who you are and what you would like to accomplish.
4. Release negativity through writing.
Even if you don’t see yourself as a writer, writing can be an amazing and therapeutic activity. It’s great for expressing yourself and letting go of any negativity that may be holding you back from achieving your dreams. When we get caught up in the things that are bothering us, we often forget that if we focus on finding solutions and reframing our outlook on these situations, we can take control of our lives! So, grab a notebook, and write down all your fears and watch the solutions start popping up!
5. Plan for some ‘you-time’.
One of the best ways to stay motivated is to take the time to listen to yourself and figure out who you are and what you want to do. In life, we are always busy with school, work, family, friends, and all those activities we cram into our days. However, it’s important to do something just for you – even if it’s just a few minutes a day. “You Time” can consist of anything from getting a manicure, to meditating to taking a walk around the block. As long as it makes you feel somewhat relaxed, happy, and creative, you’re doing it right!
6. Carry around an ‘idea’ book or journal
Now that you’ve started giving yourself “you time,” writing down your goals, and reading inspirational books, you’ll have tons of creative ideas that you’ll want to write down! That’s why it’s always great to carry around a little creative book/journal with you wherever you go so that you can capture your ideas when creativity strikes! With this great technique, staying motivated will be a breeze!
7. Find a hobby that you love
Everyone can benefit from finding a special passion that feels right for them! It may take a few tries to find the perfect hobby for you, but that’s part of the fun! Painting, playing guitar or taking up a new sport, are just a few ideas of things that you can try, but the list is endless! Whatever you end up choosing will teach you a lot about yourself and may even become the basis of a future career! How’s that for motivation?
8. Develop an exercise routine that’s right for you
It’s easy to put off exercise when you know it’s something that you don’t like doing. Instead of forcing yourself to do something that you just can’t stand or doesn’t bring you happiness, find something that does! Get creative, and find your very own way to stay fit, try out classes at your gym, go to yoga, take up hiking or just start by walking around your neighborhood! Studies show that the endorphins released during exercise are essential to happiness, and what better way to motivate you through the day than having some happiness to look forward to later? When you see yourself sticking to your routine because you found the right exercise for you, your motivation will be skyrocketing through the roof and you’ll start becoming more confident and successful in all aspects of your life!
9. Finding your food balance
It’s easier to keep yourself motivated when you’re eating healthy because you’ll have the right nutrients to give you the energy that you need to stay active throughout the day! Fruit, nuts, celery, and peanut butter on a slice of toast are all delicious and healthy snacks to keep your mind away from your mid-day vending machine cravings. Of course, you can always let yourself have a little bit of the ‘good stuff,’ because rewarding yourself just a tad will help you stay focused on eating well.
10. Surround yourself with people who support you!
With anything you may want to accomplish, it’s vital that you surround yourself with positive and supportive people who won’t steer you away from the direction you’re working towards. Stay away from people who put you down or can’t see your beauty because they are the only things standing in the way of you reaching your dreams. Make friends with like-minded people with whom you share similar passions so that you and your friends can support and inspire one another on your journeys toward success!
