Outdoor Activities to Try this Summer

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Summer is the perfect time to take a break from the routine of everyday life and try something new. Whether you’re working, volunteering, or taking classes this summer, everyone can use a little taste of outdoor adventure! Who knows, you might even find something you really enjoy! We pulled together a list of some AWESOME activities to try before you head back to campus. Take a peek and let us know which ones you’ll be trying out.

Kayaking

This outdoor adventure lets you explore the water for yourself as you travel on your own mini-voyage through a river/lake/ocean. Renting a kayak is simple and learning to navigate isn’t terribly complex. Bring along an experienced friend or family member your first time….and enjoy!

Outdoor Yoga Class

Many cities and campuses across the US offer yoga classes (often free!) in their public squares or downtown areas. Practicing yoga outdoors allows you to experience the wonderful relaxation that comes the movement and breathing exercises, but from a new and exciting perspective. If these classes aren’t offered in your area or if you prefer to workout solo, take your mat to the backyard or a nearby park!

Hiking

Looking for a fun activity to do with a group of friends? Hiking is perfect as trails range in scenery and level of difficulty, making it a great group activity for all of your friends. For more tips to get you started, check out our handy guide!

White Water Rafting

While you’re taking that summer road trip with friends or family, add a nature reserve to your itinerary! These are the perfect spots to hit for some white water rafting! Like hiking, there are reserved areas where you can go rafting. They range in level of difficulty, so you’ll be able to find the right options for you!

Water Park

This doesn’t necessarily qualify as an outdoorsy activity, but it’s still definitely a fun one for the summer! Plus, it’s a great way to give yourself some major #TBT feels. Do your research – there are some SERIOUSLY cool water parks out there. They range from indoor, to outdoor, to night time – this activity isn’t just for kids anymore!
