Quick Tech Tip: How To Speed up Your Phone

We know, we know….you’re *~in love~* with your phone. The two of you are approaching five whole years together and you just can’t go through with getting a new one. The problem is it’s become a bit sluggish because you have had it for so long. If you can’t bear to part with your mobile companion, check out our quick solutions for speeding up your phone.

Let’s keep love alive, people!

Step 1: Delete Your Unused Apps

Don’t use an app regularly? Forgot you even downloaded it? It’s time to say goodbye! Get rid of the extra clutter on your home screen.

  • iPhone: Tap on an app and hold down, once they all start dancing, you can hit the ‘x’ in the top right corner of each app to delete.
  • Android: Home Screen > Settings > Apps > Select the App > Uninstall

Step 2: Delete Your Cached Data

Cached data keeps a looooot of info for your apps and websites stored locally, so your device can easily access them when it needs to (for example – to remember a password you input earlier). The problem is, with updates to apps and websites, the cached data can become out of date and cause problems when it tries to connect. So, clear your cached data and start fresh again!

  • iPhone: Home Screen > Settings > Safari/web browser>Clear Cookies and Data
  • Android: Home Screen > Storage > Cached Data > Clear Cached Data

Step 3: Delete Anything that Takes Up Unnecessary Storage:

More specifically, get rid of all those photos and videos! Back them up on the cloud or save right to your computer. Either way, get those high school prom pics off your phone and somewhere you can enjoy them when the nostalgia hits.

Last Resort: Factory Reset

If you’re feeling really desperate – and we mean really, really desperate – trying doing a total “Factory Reset”. This will completely wipe your device of all of its files and restore your phone to its original state. Keep in mind, this will wipe your phone of any files, pictures, videos, apps, custom settings, history, or game progress you previously had!! If you end up doing this, remember to have all of your important files backed up on your computer.
