Essential Dorm Snacks

Whether you’re on-the-go from class to the library or spending some serious time at your dorm desk, you’re going to need some snacks to keep you in tip-top shape. While everyone has their own favorite snack (here’s to you, Goldfish!), it’s important to keep a variety of options on hand. After all, you’ll never know when hunger will strike!

Cereal

Yes, I admit it. On more than one occasion, I have tiptoed out of the dining hall with a Tupperware container full of dry cereal. However, a better idea is just to invest in your own box of cereal for your room instead. Whether it’s for breakfast before class or a late-night nom, it’s the perfect quick snack!

Tea

It might not be a “snack” in the traditional sense of the word, but keeping a stock of your favorite teas can be one of the most comforting things in your dorm room! Whether you’re battling a cold, or need to relax after a stressful day, tea is the perfect choice – and even has some added health benefits!

Popcorn

Not only does popcorn make a great day time snack, but it’s also an essential part of any dorm movie night! If you’re still making friends in your dorm, a movie night with popcorn is a killer icebreaker activity! Start popping and open up your door…you never know what friends you’ll make!

Yogurt

Versatile, delicious and healthy, yogurt is one of those perfect snacks to keep on hand in your mini-fridge. Whether you’re grabbing it for breakfast or tossing something sweet in it for a guilt-free dessert, the protein in yogurt is enough to hold your appetite over till your next meal and give you a sweet treat to look forward to during the day!

Fruit

This is probably the one snack your mom would be the most proud of. What’s easier and fresher than throwing some fruit in your bag? We’ll skip the lecture on the health benefits of fruit, but we can offer some tasty suggestions to making your fruit snacking a little more yummy. Throw some Nutella or PB on your apple slices, toss a handful of dried fruit with some chocolate chips, or mix some up with the yogurt we mentioned earlier. The possibilities are endless!

Granola Bars

The ultimate to-go snack! Granola bars are super convenient because no utensils, plates, or napkins are required. They also do a great job at filling you up and they’re nutritious. They’re filled with all the healthy fats you need, which help lower cholestral. They’re also a great source of fiber!
