Whether it’s exciting or upsetting, expected or unexpected, major life changes can take a toll on you. Find some peace and stay positive with these five tips.
Make a list of goals.
Although life changes are inevitable, remember that you ultimately have control over where you steer your life. Who says you can’t turn things around for the better? Try coming up with some positive goals you’d like to work toward. You have all the power here!
Look at the bigger picture.
Major life changes have a way of making us automatically jump to worst-case-scenario thinking. Keep that chin up…the world isn’t ending! Take a step back and ask yourself why this change is happening and where it’s leading you to. Guaranteed, there’s something positive hidden in there.
Find things to look forward to.
Life changes can leave you in a bit of a slump. Find some positivity by remembering the things you have to look forward to. No matter what kind of day you’ve had, there’s always something exciting right around the corner. Can’t think of anything? Hit up some of your friends and plan a fun night out!
Get into a routine.
What do you want to do during a major life change? Probably curl up in a ball and lay in bed. What should you do? Keep busy by getting into a routine. Life still goes on and you should, too.
Find a mentor.
For every life change, there’s someone else who has gone through the same thing. Enlist the help of someone you trust—such as a friend, relative or a coworker. They’ll be able to give you some helpful advice, or even just a listening ear to vent to.
