For most of us, our mornings involve rolling out of bed at the last minute and stumbling over our own feet as we rush to get dressed and head out the door. No wonder mornings get a bad rep! We’re firm believers that a positive morning can make your whole day a bit brighter. That’s why we’re suggesting some easy daily habits to adopt into your morning routine.
1. Get up and moving earlier.
Snoozing your alarm time and time again is so tempting. After all, you want every precious minute of sleep you can get. But when you weigh pros and cons, the stress of rushing through your morning routine (and skipping breakfast, forgetting your notebook, etc., etc…) totally isn’t worth the little bit of extra sleep. Set your alarm earlier, take your time getting ready, and see how much your morning mood improves!
2. Eat a real breakfast.
Snickers said it best with their slogan, “You’re not you when you’re hungry.” But aside from helping you kick aside the morning blues, breakfast really does have a lot of importance — like giving you more energy and kick-starting your metabolism. Start making breakfast a daily habit.
3. Begin thinking about goals.
Set your intentions from the start. The morning is often the most productive time of day for many, so take advantage of it! You don’t have to jump right into your responsibilities, but simply thinking about something you want to accomplish is a step in the right direction.
It’s hard remembering life’s simple pleasures when it’s 8 a.m. and you’ve got an exam soon, but that’s why this habit is important! Finding a reason to smile each morning, even if it’s just from enjoying that first blissful sip of coffee, can make your mornings a little bit brighter — even on exam days.
5. Start drinking water.
You always hear how you’re supposed to drink eight glasses of water a day, but do you follow that rule? Getting started as soon as you wake up makes reaching this goal easier. Plus, you just went hours without having a sip, so hydrating ASAP is important!
