No-Fail Ways to End Your Day on a Positive Note

College life is quite the roller coaster. One day you’re laying in bed for hours binge-watching Netflix and scarfing down a personal pizza, and the next day you’re running from class to class and tackling exams left and right. But whatever your day looks like, one thing is for certain — you can always end it on a positive note. Here are just a few ways how.

Sip a soothing tea.

Curling up with a warm, cozy drink is our definition of bliss. But since it’s the end of the day, steer clear of caffeinated beverages like coffee and hot cocoa. Instead, opt for something like chamomile tea, which is known to soothe and relax.

Reflect on the “up” moments of your day.

Ever have those nights where you’re trying to doze off, but you’re haunted by a cringe-worthy reminder of some incredibly awkward conversation you had years ago? Yeah, we’ve all been there. Before those intrusive thoughts get the best of you, practice reflecting on the “up” moments of your day — no matter how big or small.

Prepare for tomorrow.

We’re big fans of this one. Why? Because you’ll rest much easier knowing that tomorrow’s outfit is picked out, your shoes are by the door, and your school bag is already packed.

Meditate.

So many people swear by meditation, we just couldn’t exclude it. You don’t have to be some sort of spiritual guru to practice, either. Even just 5 minutes of mindfulness before bed will do you some good!

Rework your bedtime rituals.

You’re probably used to a pretty regular routine around bedtime. You know — Brush your teeth, jump into bed, scroll through social media, etc., etc. Think about how can you can rework this bedtime ritual so that you’re fully relaxed and refreshed. For example, if you typically doze off without removing your makeup or popping out your contact lenses, start making those steps a habit. Maybe even enjoy a nice pre-bedtime sheet mask while you’re at it!

Wind down with your go-to playlist.

Music is the best therapy. No matter what kind of day you’ve had, it’s nice getting lost in the lyrics and beats of some feel-good songs. How about playing your favorite playlist while you’re working through your bedtime ritual?

Talk to your favorite person.

Is there someone in your life that you’re just completely comfortable being around? Whenever you’re in their presence, it just feels like home? Whether it’s mom, a best friend or a significant other, you’re sure to crack a genuine smile after catching up on each other’s days.
