5-Minute Self Care Practices You Can Squeeze into Any Day

Life gets busy, but we’re firm believers you should never neglect a little bit of self care. Let’s finally put those “there’s not enough time” excuses to rest. We’re listing easy self care practices you can work into your day in 5 minutes or less.

Meditate.

Don’t let the word “meditation” steer you away—It doesn’t have to be all that fancy! Even just closing your eyes and being still for 5 minutes is a great self care practice.

Hit “unfriend.”

Why subscribe to any kind of negativity? Go ahead and “unfriend” those people on social media that always seem to cast a shadow over everything.

Read through inspiring quotes.

Don’t underestimate the power of a positive quote! Whether you fill your Instagram feed with accounts that offer words of encouragement, or you have your own favorite quotes you like to revisit from time to time, reading through these motivational words are great encouragement for your day.

Free write.

Open a notebook, grab a pen, and write about anything. Literally anything. Whatever ideas come to mind, no matter how strange or nonsensical, jot them down! Free writing is a calming practice where you can let ideas flow onto paper, regardless if they make sense or not. Not only is it calming, but it also often sparks a feeling of creativity and inspiration.

Or, doodle.

Just like free writing, doodling is a relaxing activity that can help you de-stress from the day, or just offer a creative boost when you need one.

Read an uplifting blog post.

Do you have a blog or entertainment site you love reading posts from? You totally deserve some downtime to enjoy these positive articles—Whether it’s more serious and motivational, or simply a silly quiz to find out what type of pizza you are based on your zodiac sign.

Give your pet a hug.

Isn’t your furry friend just so therapeutic? No matter how busy you are, make sure to squeeze in time for a quick hug or cuddle session with your pet. It’s the pick-me-up that never fails.

Stretchhhh.

Even on busy days, you can’t ignore what your body needs—Movement! Getting in a good 5-minute stretch will get your blood pumping and help you feel rejuvenated.

Laugh a little.

A day without laughter? No, thanks! You might not have time to sit down and watch your favorite comedy every day, but how about at least cracking a few jokes with friends or scrolling through some funny memes?
