Great Energy Boosters That Aren’t Coffee

For some people, coffee isn’t just an obsession, it’s a whole lifestyle. They pretty much can’t start their morning without a trip to their campus cafe, and they’ll probably even down a few more cups before finally calling it quits for the day. You’d think it was liquid gold! But not everyone conforms to this coffee-obsessed lifestyle. If you’d love a quick energy boost, but aren’t very keen for the coffee bean, try these alternatives instead.

Cold Water

Drinking a cup of cold water will often give you a much-needed energy boost—especially in the morning. Dehydration is a biggie when it comes to fatigue, and it makes sense that you’d need a bit of quick hydration after going all night without a sip!

Tea

Naturally, most people reach for tea as their first alternative to coffee—and why wouldn’t they? Not only does it contain caffeine, but you’re also getting the added benefit of all the healthy antioxidants.

Fruit

Certain fruits, like apples or bananas, provide the perfect type of energy boost. Not only are they packed with Vitamin C and other energizing minerals, but they also contain fructose. So, why can’t you just munch on candy and get some sugar in your system that way? Well you can, but the glucose in fruit takes longer to digest than the simple sugars in something like candy. Therefore, you’ll get a steady energy boost rather than a quick sugar rush.

Dark Chocolate

We just mentioned that you might want to reconsider reaching for some candy for an energy boost. So, why are we now listing dark chocolate? The energy you get from dark chocolate isn’t just from simple sugars. In fact, it actually contains some caffeine and theobromine—both related to increased energy!

Green Veggies

A lot of green vegetables are choc-full of good stuff that’ll give you energy. For example, a leafy green veggie like spinach is full of iron, which is essential for energy. They’re also often high in Vitamin B, which helps your body convert food to energy.
